How can I buy or sell shares in Contact?
You'll need to talk to a stockbroker to buy or sell shares in Contact. Check the links to New Zealand brokers on the New Zealand Stock Exchange site at www.nzx.com, or call any broker listed in the Yellow Pages.
What are the classes of shares?
All Contact's ordinary shares have equal standing in terms of distributions and voting.
Where are Contact's shares quoted?
Contact’s ordinary shares are quoted on the New Zealand Stock Exchange. They are quoted under the ticker 'CEN'.

Do shareholders have to be New Zealand residents for tax purposes?
This restriction applied only to the initial retail offering of shares in April 1999. Anyone from any jurisdiction can own shares in Contact, if they are legally able to do so.
If I'm a Contact shareholder, do I have any additional rights as a customer?
No, all customers are treated equally. We prefer to reward our shareholders with distributions, rather than through any special benefits or discounts.
What is a distribution?
As a shareholder you've invested in and own a part of Contact. Your investment means you are entitled to a share of the profits we make over the year. This is called a distribution. Distributions are usually made twice during the year. Contact operates a Profit Distribution Plan (see below or here for further details).
What currency does Contact pay its dividends in?
All dividends are paid in New Zealand dollars.
What is Contact's Profit Distribution Plan?
In February 2009, Contact established a profit distribution plan, under which shareholders will receive distributions in the form of shares (as a non-taxable bonus issue) but will have the opportunity to have those shares bought back by Contact for cash. Where can I get a copy of the Contact Energy Annual Report?
All our annual, half yearly and quarterly reports are listed in the company reports section of this website, or you can email us at investor.centre@contactenergy.co.nz and ask us to post you a copy.
Will I be sent reports automatically?
Contact Energy does not automatically send annual and half year reports to all shareholders.
If you're a Contact Energy shareholder and you would like to receive regular copies of our annual and half yearly reports, please email Computershare and ask to be added to the mailing list for annual and half yearly reports, quoting your common shareholder number(CSN).
Quarterly operational reports are available on the website and are released to the NZX.
